Our Addresses:Dolls House Nursery: 71 Havant Road, Portsmouth, PO6 2JD
Dolls House nursery provides quality childcare and early years education for children in Portsmouth.
All resources at the nursery are age appropriate and allow for easy access to help the children develop their own interests and preferences. We then follow the child’s interest, promote independence and encourage the child to become a successful learner, effective contributor and a confident individual.
Our rooms include:
The Ladybirds room provides care for babies from 3 months to 1 year or once they are walking.
Within this group we encourage you to share and discuss with us your child’s personality to enable us to get to know a little about your child. Here we encourage a home book system which is kept of your baby’s routine and sent home each day to inform you of any achievements and activities taken part in, we also invite you to add or write in any notes you think may be relevant to us.
The Busy Bees room provides care for children between 1 and 2 years.
Here we provide new experiences according to your child’s individual needs encouraging them to explore their environment. The busy bees have their own art area, sleep room and kitchenette. We continue with a home book writing down the details of your baby’s day.
The Butterfly room providing care and education for children aged 2– 3 years.
Within this room we have the six areas of learning in a layout encouraging the children to choose and explore their environment. We can also work with yourselves to potty train your child if they are ready to do so. Once again a home book system is continued if the parents wish.
The Dragonfly room Pre-School providing care and education for children age 3-4 years.
Following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum we plan and provide relevant and simulating activities inside the six areas of learning with the individual child’s needs in mind. The room layout is such to provide the six areas of learning through out the nursery day. We work with our neighbourhood schools preparing them for departure to ‘BIG’ school!
has an abundance of activities for the children to relax, play and explore in. With four different surfaces the children are able to ride bikes on the decked area, climb, balance and crawl in the astro turf or relax and explore in the finding out grassed area. The nursery also has a Sensory garden where you will find the flowers that we have planted and our rabbits and Guinea pigs.
Day to day:
We provide breakfast between 07.30 and 8.30am serving a choice of breakfast cereals. We ask you to provide lunch for your child (re-heating facilities are available). We provide both a mid-morning and mid-afternoon drink and snack, we also provide nursery tea (served at approx 4pm), this is provided for children over the age of 12 months. All food provided by ourselves is healthy, nutritional and home cooked where possible.
Our approach to nursery childcare is simple. We aim to provide a loving, nurturing, safe environment filled with warmth and promise where children’s talents are encouraged to flourish and grow.
Ofsted have awarded the Nursery with a ‘good’ overall and ‘outstanding’ in two areas.
