Our Ethos
Here Farlington Day Nursery we strive for our children to be kind, independent and resilient, we want them to have a love for themselves, other people and for learning. To enable that to happen we provide a safe, stimulating environment for children to thrive. We pride ourselves on being their home from home. A place where they can come to explore, be challenged, use their imagination, and become inspired.
We celebrate the whole child building strong relationships with families, learning about them and their experiences and include this in our curriculum.
Our Curriculum
Our approach to development is through child centred, play based fun. We love to enhance children's curiosity through stimulating yet open-ended activities, using authentic resources and an enabling environment.
Practitoners have excellent knowledge of child development and are skilled in knowing when to let children play independently or sensitively get involved to develop play and learning.
Farlington Day Nursery provides quality childcare and early years education for babies and children in Portsmouth.
All resources at the nursery are age appropriate and allow for easy access to help the children develop their own interests and preferences. We then follow the child’s interest, promote independence and encourage the child to become a successful learner, effective contributor and a confident individual.

LADYBIRDS
3 months – 1.5 years Getting to know you and your baby, their needs and personality. We encourage parents to share and discuss any achievements or concerns.

MINIBUGS
1.5 years - 2 years Once your child is walking we provide new experiences according to their individual needs, encouraging them to explore their environment.

BUSY BEES
2 – 3 years Helping your child to grow and develop as an individual.
• 6 areas of learning through play • Children are encouraged to explore and make choices • Arts and craft area • Working with you and your child to potty train when ready • Home book to share routines and achievements |
BUTTERFLIES & DRAGONFLIES
3-4 years Following the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum we help your child get ready for their next steps.
• 6 areas of Early Years Foundation Stage learning • Relevant and stimulating • Structured and independent activities • Preparing your child for their departure to 'big school' |
Day-to-day routine
• Breakfast 07.30 – 08.30am, choice of cereals available
• Mid-morning drink and snack 10am, healthy snacks provided
• Nursery Lunch 12pm, we proved a home-cooked nursery lunch for the small charge of £3.50 per day, or you can provide a packed-lunch
• Mid-afternoon drink 2pm,
• Nursery Tea 4pm, healthy light tea.
